How to Wash Your Beard
If you are already growing a beard or planning to grow one, taking care of it is particularly important. The most important care to give your beards are washing and keeping it clean. Go through our guide on how to wash your beard.
Some of the reasons for you to wash your beards regularly include bits of food getting stuck on your beard, spending some time with smokers or if you are a smoker and having a lot of dust on it. A cold weather may also cause the skin under your beard to dry up which may lead to an itchy feeling around the chin region.
There are special conditioners and shampoos formulated particularly for that purpose. It’s not advisable to use the normal shampoos since their chemical content may be harsh for the facial skin. Bear in mind that facial skin is much more sensitive as compared to the scalp.
1. What should be the frequency of washing your beard?
Less frequent washing is fine for your beards since more frequent washing may cause damage to the natural oil of the beards. I would recommend washing daily, but if you need to wash it more frequently in a day, simply use plain water and avoid soaps. Everyone has a different physique and unique beards. Hence, you are the only one to judge how frequently you should wash your beard.
2. Which method should you use to wash your beard?
The product should be applied perfectly on the entire beard while penetrating deeply with your fingers so as to reach the skin. This is necessary for maintaining clean and hydrated facial skin. Apply the product on the routes while shifting the hair in every direction.
Those with new beards may scrub aggressively so as to stimulate the follicles and enhance better hair growth. Once through, rinse with plenty of water while moving the hands in every direction so as to get rid of all residual washing product in the beard.
The process isn’t much difficult as you can see. The idea is to wash your beard while reaching the skin and routes. Take note of the water temperature while both washing and rinsing. Using very hot water may cause dry skin that in turn may lead to problems for proper beard growth.
Using warm water is advisable especially when you begin to rinse after washing. Warm water will open up the skin pores. Once all the shampoo has been rinsed with warm water, cold water can now be used so as to close the pores and give the beards a fresh, clean look.
3. Drying your beard
If any water is left in the beard after washing, it may result to irritations. Therefore, full drying of the beard is required. The best drying method is rubbing a clean towel gently. Drying with the towel should be gentle since the hair is very delicate when still wet. I personally use a dryer with mild heat for drying my beard. While drying, I also use a brush to comb it.
4. Which beard wash products you should use
There are plenty of beard wash products available online. However, read their ingredients with caution so as to protect yourself from harmful ingredients.Natural products are the most favored. It is even better if they are completely organic. All products are usually accompanied with instructions of use but if in doubt, always seek an answer so as to be certain before using them.
